View Full Version : Strange Radio Problem...Anyone Else Have This Problem?
So, when my car (2008 tC)sits outside at work for 8 hours in the 100 degree weather, I've noticed that it skips CD's very easily. It's almost as if any small scratches, lint, etc, become a real problem for the optics to ignore when the CD player is very hot. Once I've run the A/C for awhile and the interior of the car cools down, it behaves itself. I've never had this problem in any other car. I have the base-model Pioneer stereo that came with the car.

Greg, its almost like the thing is barely on the edge of some sort of adjustment parameter. I would get it replaced under warrenty?
I was thinking the same thing. I'll have to take it in and have one of the Scion Techs look at it.

If that's the only problem you have with the OEM headunit be thankfull. My first one ate a CD one day. I would push the eject button and hear the little motor thing kick on but the disc would not come out. I got it replaced under warranty and Scion even sent the CD back to me a week or so later. My second OEM headunit has done the same thing (different CD) but I no longer have the warranty (happened at 37,xxx miles).
I have yet to get a new CD player. I guess it's a good thing I like that CD.
I notice the same thing, not with my car, but with my mom's XC (darn volvos)90. It wont play cds at all if it sits in the hot weather.

Scion's have had some radio problems in 06's, but they just WON'T play . . . doubt the problem is the same, but if it's an 06, you might be on the verge . . . take it in!

Okay, solve a problem for me... does the upgraded '08 HU fit in the '06 xB? I know it should physically fit, but what about the harness? I'm already setup with the '06 iPod HU, and I really dig the new one...

So what happens when the CD starts driving you insane?

Radio, or no music. A new CD player would be nice, but it's not a priority for me.
Mine drove me nuts again last night. Trying to enjoy a little Tool ("Right In Two", if you are a fan...), and it started skipping for no reason. It's almost as if the slightest scratch or dust on the CD just throws the laser eye for a loop, and it just can't overcome these imperfections as well as other CD players.
I was just getting to the really good part in the song, too!:mad::mad:

I'm hopin' to win one at S3. Maybe I can slip Horberg a few bucks. :)
Greg- Right in Two is a great song, but I like the Lost Keys-Roseta Stoned segment better.

Gotta love it.
"But I forgot my pen"
"Sh@t the bed again....typical"
I love those lines. Classic Maynard! The sarcasm just KILLS me!
A Perfect Circle is great, too!
