View Full Version : Sound off! What Mods are you planning on 2008?
I'm planning on lowering my 2008 tC, and maybe getting some new rims and wider tires.
What do you have planned?

I just installed an Alpine CDA-9884 and an Infiniti Basslink II.
I have a header coming soon, and I plan on doing some interior lighting and some (tasteful) underbody stuff.
I'm also considering a low key vinyl stripe along the beltline.
To be realistic, it will most likely be an exhaust and header. I would like to add a new HU, shocks, and a CF hood.

I know where some black megan racing seats are for sale.....But they are mine when I get the money. Maybe, I have been telling him that for months now. I think he will catch on that I am broke eventually. LOL.....Fredy

Haha, nice... yea, black racing seats would be nice... I need to keep saying that my tax return will go to my credit card and not the car...

You and me both. I think I said that last year too.

Someone is selling a set of black and grey seats with sliders for 200 bucks... he's local too. I really want to, but I've dropped 500 on the car in the last month. So I just can't do it.

Those seats are in storage waiting for you to buy them. LOL

No mods this year? Boo.
As for me, I know I'll be doing some stuff but I don;t know what. I really just play it by ear.

Ok, so new mods. I came across some pretty good deals in PPC on SL.
Coming soon:
NST shift cable bushings, RockBlocker radiator diversion panel and TRD sequential shift light (Sparks has 'em for $325, I got it for $75. What a steal:D)

Nice dude!
I really wanna do new rotors, and struts, but we'll see...

What rotors are you looking at?

Actually, Dezod has a nice set of slotted ones...

That looks like a decent price. They ship fast too. You planning on SS lines too?
burstaneurysm
02-12-2008, 05:06 AM
Might as well...
Get those Dezod pads, the rotors and ss lines.
I also wanted to throw sensatraks up front... we'll see. And if I can find a set of DF210s for cheap, I'll grab em. They drop .25" lower than I am now.
Saw your post on the rotors. I agree, they look great. For me, I want to boost the performance up a bit so the MMW Header, exhust, and shocks are top of the list now. I would also like a nice HU, a dual hight display type, but not found any I really like. I'm open to suggestions on that one.
Now that I'm feeling better and the weather is starting to turn nice, I have to get out and clean up the box and plan out my upgrades.
So many things to buy, so little money.
PS. I need to pull the front tires and see if the pads are wearing as bad as some of the post indicate they might. I push my box a little so they may be just worn.

RonMy roommate has the Pioneer AVIC D3 in his tC... it's nice.
MMW header is awesome. Mine's been on for a month now.
Thanks Ian, I'll have to look at the Pioneer again. Not been looking to much right now as other projects have taken front seat. When the weather turns nice, I'm sure to start on a buying spree and over do it (again).
I am jealous about that header. Based on everything else I've read, that seems to be the one, most beneficial upgrade you can do for the stock engine. I got to get my order in soon. Where did you get yours? I've seen it on two different sites at about the same cost.

I actually got mine brand new from a private seller for $150 shipped. :D Couldn't pass on that one!
... for $150 shipped.
Some people have all the luck!!! I guess I'll have to spend my $300 but now I have a reason to get the exhuast and underbody braces. If I'm going to spend money, might as well go big! (wife permitting!)

Hey, at least the MMW header for the 'B isn't $550 like it is for the tC.

Yea, that's a chunk of change... I can only imagine it's gonna be similar in price for the xB2.

02-21-2008, 01:56 AM
ok so i know this has been discussed before but i believe it was on a xB, is their a high risk of water entering the engine through a CAI? cause my friend(civic owner) told me that they usually place CAI's deep into the car. i don't want that for my tC, and that actually scares me. but yea is true that they put these in the bottom of the bay and does water really go through the CAI? isnt their a weather gaurd or anything that i can buy or even make myself for the CAI?
planning to buy a AEM CAI by the way for performance, if there are any other suggestions by all means let me know

In order to hydrolock the engine with a CAI, you would pretty much have to submerge the filter in water.
If you are really that concerned about it (or drive through deep water often) you can install a bypass filter on the upper tubing or run a short ram intake.
jamus07
02-21-2008, 04:52 PM
no i dont drive through deep puddles but my friend just had me concerned because he said ANY puddle and your done but would a short ram intake give as much power and fuel efficiency as a CAI would? i looked and i only found a K&N short ram for like 10 dollars more than the AEM CAI
captainlaziness
02-21-2008, 11:58 PM
Neither a CAI or SRI will give you much power. Both are mainly asthetic mods (look and sound cool).
I've been running a K&N CAI for three years now without incident. I do use the hydrophobic sock on the filter and try to avoid large puddles just to be on the safe side, but I'm not too concerned about hydrolock.

If you drive smart, you don't really need to worry about hydrolock.

02-25-2008, 03:25 AM
so realistically how much power does a CAI or SRI give you and mileage as well? i kno some websites say 15-20 but i kno thats complete bull
burstaneurysm
02-25-2008, 04:56 PM
I'd expect 5-7 tops. They don't do a whole lot, but they to allow the engine to breathe way better. You can generally feel the difference, and they sound amazing.
I've heard that they will provide maybe a 2-3% increase tops. Depends on what else you have on the engine. By themselves, they help the engine breath better so the top end is improved. With an exhust header, the two will be better than either alone.
As far as fuel mileage, I doubt you'll see much, if any, change. The weather will have more affect.
burstaneurysm
02-25-2008, 09:08 PM
Fuel mileage won't really change a whole lot... you might gain a bit.
Of course, that's only if your driving habits don't change. Oftentimes, you tend to drive a bit harder after installing one since it sounds good... so keep that in mind.
